Baker Kitchen

Our clients came to us with a full wish list: more storage, more light, more conversation, more kitchen! The old kitchen's footprint was constricted and relegated off to the side of the main floor. How did we achieve such an open, expansive kitchen? We flipped the kitchen to the living/dining area! Now, the kitchen is truly the heart of the home! Our client says: "The new location has done exactly what we had hoped it would do, made the kitchen the hub of activity for our family and for gatherings of friends... It truly has changed the way we 'do life' in this house."

Notable Details

Berenson Hardware in an oil-rubbed finish

An inviting, open-concept family kitchen brimming with warm, earthy tones.

Having a separate cooktop & wall oven instead of an all-in-one stove frees up prime drawer space below the cooktop and elevates the oven to a more ergonomic height.

Drawers on the island provide extra storage - it is a great place for dishware that's easily transported to the adjoining dining room.

No detail was spared in this kitchen. The back of the peninsula, which was formerly occupied by a railing to the split-level family room below, is given the same panel detail as the cabinet doors.

Smooth-to-touch finishes and evenly-applied stain are hallmarks of a Paragon Kitchen.

Drawer storage for dishware is more ergonomic than reaching into upper cabinetry, especially with the help of these Blum plate-holders. Note the full-depth extension of the dovetailed birch drawers. These hard-working drawers can hold up to 40 kg of weight!

Drawer storage for small appliances and bottles keep counters free of clutter. Customizable dividers allow flexibility for organization.

A towel bar in oil-rubbed bronze installed on to the cabinetry provides a place for those wayward dish towels.

A little surprise for our homeowner, who is an avid baker: a shallow "spice" cabinet specially made for her cake decorating supplies.

This shot showcases the soft grain of maple shining through the mid-tone stain. Note the custom millwork created for the vent and the furniture baseboard around the island.

A bird's eye view of the now-expansive kitchen.
